Clamoring for a Gmail invite? I've got two. I'll give one each to the first two people who comment on this entry. Be sure to leave your email address; it won't be displayed. Consider it thanks for reading.

Seriously, though, this week it's like everybody's giving away stuff to the first commenter on an entry... almost makes me want to implement comments on my site so I can hand out prizes.

And just so this won't be a completely content-free comment, i've been wondering for a while about the dionidium logo on each page -- is that a font that's available somewhere, or did you whip that up yourself? Either way it's damned nifty.

Have fun with Gmail, Craig and murj.

The logo is in Jason Kottke's Silkscreen, believe it or not. I simply added the outline and kerned it a bit. The font was designed for use at very small sizes, but like Kottke says: "Silkscreen also works very well at large point sizes if you're looking for that chunky, old school computer look so popular with the kids today."

I searched for sites on google for people giving GMail invites away. I found this site and would LOVE to get an invite. You see, I grew up in a poor neighbourhood in Canada where I had to wear the same Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles track pants to school everyday. Just last year (senior year of high school) my parents gave me a pair of jeans from the Salvation Army to me for my 25th birthday. I can only get free services online because of my low income. I currently have a hotmail account but since my computer is so low on memory (Windows 95 was given from relative) I have to store much of my work on an online source like my hotmail account. As we all know, hotmail does not have much room so I was wondering if I could get something larger, and that is when I stumbled across GMail and just knew that it would be my savior so if you have an invite, please help a poor man in need. -Timmy O'Toole (please help me, hopegfully I have made you laugh with my misfortunes)

I'd love to get a gmail invite too, pretty please. This whole gmail thing (desperately trying to get an invitation) reminds me of standing in line at 6 in the morning at Walmart one year waiting to get a hold of one of 200 Furbys that were being delivered that weekend, for my little sister. I wonder if I'll think of gmail the same way a couple years from now?

That's four; I'm giving the last to a friend who asked for an invitation off-site. It's clear to me (and everyone else who has a Gmail account) that Google is flooding the market with invites, so I'm sure I'll get more. If I do, I'll continue to offer them here.

Maybe if half of the pathetic people that posted above me read any of Wayne's posts, or were observant in any logical manner, they would know why they weren't receiving any invites in their gmail accounts. This also includes the jackasses who are posting their e-mail. Do you not see the 3 text fields DIRECTLY above the comment section? If not, one of them says "e-mail." So far I've only seen one person other than Wayne offer invites, and she asked you to post your e-mail address on HER site.

NO BIG DEAL! Just because something is limited, restricted, guarded, it is valuable! Thats normal human nature. BTDT. No big deal. I was never too interested in google mail anyway, I was way too happy with Yahoo. But I wanted to check out what all the fuss was about, and in 1 hour of trying, I was able to track a friend who had gmail invites. Having registered at gmail, I am un-impressed. The "conversations" feature looks good, the interface is nice, simple and quick, and thats it. I am not too impressed by the "search your emails" feature. How many times have you had to really search for emails in your inbox. The interface is clean and neat, and being from google, its here to stay, but spending your hard-earned $$ for a google account, give me a break. Pure Insanity! Everyone reading this will agree it no big deal when you too have a gmail account. Dont pay for the damn thing. Send me an email eye_am_stan at yahoo dot com. I will distribute any gmail invite that I get my hands onto. I would really like to dillute this exclusivity of the damn gmail thing. Drop me a line and keep checking your inboxes. Those who have written to me already, no need to write again. You are in FIFO. S_T_A_N
